We earn a commission when you buy a Swiss Travel Pass through a link on this site. You pay the same either way. Here is the whole arrangement, plainly.

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy a pass, the seller pays us a percentage of the sale. Your price does not change. The commission comes out of the seller's margin, not out of your pocket, and there is no version of the pass that is cheaper if you avoid our links.

Who pays us

We are an affiliate partner of GetYourGuide, and the booking widgets on this site are theirs. Purchases made through them are attributed to us. That is the only outward link on the site: we are not paid to send you anywhere else, because we do not send you anywhere else.

Nobody who issues or runs the pass pays us, and we have no commercial relationship with any of the railways, cable cars, boats or museums it covers. No mountain pays to appear on this site or to be described favourably.

Why you should still be sceptical

Being paid on purchase is a real conflict of interest, and saying "but we're honest" does not remove it. What we can offer instead is a way to check us.

The calculator on the home page works from the actual fare of every journey and mountain you tick. If your trip comes to less than the pass costs, it says so, it names the cheaper option, and it tells you how much you would be down. It is not weighted and it does not hide the negative case. Run your real itinerary through it rather than the one it opens with, and the arithmetic is there to check against the published fares.

Several pages here advise against buying. Jungfraujoch is the one mountain where we say outright that the pass is the wrong card and the Half Fare Card does better. The home page opens by telling you that if you are staying put in one region you will usually do better with a Half Fare Card or a regional pass. The worth-it page gives the break-even figure for every duration, including the ones that are hard to reach. We would rather say all of that than sell a pass someone regrets.

What the commission does not affect

Which journeys and mountains are listed, the fares we quote, the break-even figures, or the order things appear in. The fares are the published prices you would hand over at the counter; the pass prices are the seller's own. Neither is adjusted for our benefit, and the pages that tell you not to buy earn us nothing.
